YELLOW SPRINGS, OH — Robert J. Antonick, 71, died June 1, 2011, at Friends Care Center in Yellow Springs, Ohio, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1939, the son of Nicholas and Anne Antonick.
In 1944, he, his parents, and older brother, Milton, moved to Mount Vernon, Ohio. (Knox County)

Bob was a remarkable artist. As a teen, he worked as the photographic touchup artist at the Jim Israel Studio in Mount Vernon. While in high school, his illustrations of local personalities appeared regularly in the Mount Vernon News. He took great pride in his volunteer work in the Civil Air Patrol.

He graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School in Mount Vernon in 1957, and from the University of Dayton/Dayton Art Institute with a Fine Arts Degree in 1962. While in college, he was simultaneously the editor of the University of Dayton yearbook, the Daytonian, and the university’s literary magazine, the Exponent.

Bob worked briefly in the art department of the Continental Can Co. in Mount Vernon. He was the art director for the Sabatino Advertising Agency in Dayton, Ohio and the co-owner of Esau-Antonick Advertising, also in Dayton.
He taught art classes at the Dayton Art Institute. He was the published author of two science fiction novels, and countless magazine and newspaper articles.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia, son, Jason, and granddaughter, Hayley, all of Dayton; his older brother, Milt of Royal Oak, Michigan; younger brother, Mike of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
