I'm Grace Anobile living in Woodbridge northwest of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
My father is Giuseppe Anobile and his dad's name was Michele Anobile. They hail from Genzano di Lucania.
My grandfather had a cousin, Natale Anobile born around the same time as he was (1895) and Natale moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in the 1920's where he married Rose and had one daughter, Palma.
Here in the Toronto area we have my father's family, his brother Savino's and his sister Angela's family.
Two other siblings went to Argentina after WWII and one raised his family in a suburb of Los Angeles.
My brother, Mike who lives in Windsor with his family had a study done of our family tree. Our line goes back to Benedetto born around 1592 in Genzano. At that time our last name used to be Nobile and somehow the "a" got in front of it a few generations later. Nobile means "noble." Putting an "a" in front of the name means "not noble." There is no record of our paternal line before 1592 in Genzano. The researchers suggested we came from another area of Europe. I know there was a great exodus of Jewish people ordered by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain in 1492 and those people scattered throughout Europe.
I have no proof of course.
Interesting fact about my paternal grandfather and his cousin Natale....they were very fair skinned and my grandfather had very blue eyes. That got passed down to me..and my siblings have greenish eyes. The other notable characteristic was their small stature which has been passed down with exceptions such as my brothers who are tall. And, we have tight curly hair as do many of my cousins here in the Toronto area....oddly, our children don't.
I enjoyed reading all your e-mails. I see we have a great author among us...Richard Anobile. Congratulations. If anyone wants to contact me directly, my e-mail address is

Grace (nee' Graziella) named after my paternal grandmother according to the old customs of our town.
