Most on-line family trees show Jedediah ALLEN who married Amy TUCKER (abt 1799) as the son of Ralph ALLEN of NJ - Jedediah ALLEN born 5 Jul 1765 Chesterfield NJ d. 13 Jun 1815. This appears to be incorrect.
Jedediah ALLEN who married Amy TUCKER does not appear to be this Jedediah ALLEN (1765 - 1815) son of Ralph ALLEN. There is a Rev War Pension file (R123, NARA 804) for Jedediah ALLEN of New Jersey. The Jedediah ALLEN in file R123 states that he was born in Allentown NJ. He enlisted in 1775 or 1776, he remembers at age 18, and served three years in NJ Militia mostly in Monmouth County. After the revolution, he reports living in Crosswicks, then Deal NJ, then Cazenovia, Madison, NY, and finally in Georgetown, Madison NY. He was alive and a resident of Georgetown in 1834 when he applied for the pension. His attorney informed the Pension Office that Jedediah died in 1842 or 1844. The pension file also includes an inquiry dated Jan 15, 1855 from Jedediah's son Thomas ALLEN a resident of Delmar, Tioga, PA asking about his father's benefits. The attorney's letter states that Jedediah's spouse is living in Wisconsin in 1855. Jedediah's spouse is likely Amy ALLEN, age 74, living with the family of Jedediah ALLEN Jr., age 48 in Bristol, Kenosha, WI (1850 Federal Census famly 59).
This family (Jedediah ALLEN and Amy Tucker, daughter of Bishop TUCKER) are mentioned as some of the early settlers of Cazenovia in "New Woodstock an Vicinity, Past and Present", Anzolette D Elsworth, 1901.
I'd be interested if anyone has proposed parents for Jedediah other than Ralph ALLEN and Ann WRIGHT.
