The actual microfilm print from the February 13, 1896, The Democrat, of the January 25, 1896 death of Ephraim, shows, quote:"Died in Texas". The following is from the Mesquite (Texas) Herald, mailed us by Rev. R. L. Phelps, who also formerly lived in Marshall county. Mr. Alexander was Clack Ragsdale's father-in-law: Ephraim Alexander, an old gentleman who came here from Union Grove, Alabama, a few months ago, died at the residence of Mr. Ragsdale, in the Long Creek settlement on Saturday 25th. His remains were interred in the cemetery at this place at 10 o'clock Monday morning, Rev. R. L. Phelps conducting thefuneral service."
