A funeral service celebrating the life of Reese E. Alban, 73, of Newark, OH will held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 11am, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home
Reese was born September 8, 1941, in Newark, to the late Harry E. (Roy) and Alice Jane (Harter) Alban.
He passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at The James Medical ICU in Columbus, Ohio.
Reese was a devoted family man, who was the former owner of the Sam Alban Furniture Company in downtown Newark.
He was a 1959 graduate of Newark High School and a 1963 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business.
He had been a member of the Retail Marketing Guild, Ohio Retail Merchant Association, the Jaycees, the Licking Valley Sertoma and the Newark Downtown Association.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Kaye D. (Palmer) Alban; his son Matt, his twin sister, Ellen (Trent) Merricks of Newark; numerous nieces and nephews and his “angel”, Donna Saalfield who gave him his kidney transplant in 2010
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Doug Acord and sister-in-law Charlotte Palmer.

A funeral service for M. Ellen Merricks, 76 of Newark will be held Thursday October 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio.
Ellen died unexpectedly Saturday September 30, 2017 at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio.
She was born September 8, 1941 in Newark, OH (Licking County) to Harry E. and Alice Jane (Harter) Alban.
She was a member of the Heath Church of Christ.
She enjoyed gardening, walking and spending time at Lake Erie.
She was a 1959 graduate of Newark High School and a 1963 graduate of the Ohio State University.
She was a former second grade teacher at Garfield Elementary School.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley R. Merricks of Newark, Trenton D. (Laura) Merricks, II of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, Emily, Conor, Will; sister-in-law, Kaye D. Alban; nephew, Matt Alban.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Trenton D. Merricks, January 1, 2017; twin brother, Reese E. Alban.
Calling hours will be observed Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street. Newark, Ohio
