Surnames: Bieler, Van den Ban, van der ban
My grandmother, helen degraff, told me that her maternal aunt, Lena Bieler, married a man with surname "Van der Ban" and that he went by "Bey" but I don't know his real givenname. I was told that they were both teachers who would teach in Indonesia (then the Dutch East Indies) for a few years, then return to Holland. They did this for several years, until the Japanese occupation, when they captured them and placed in a detention camp. They survived and returned to Holland. I know that men and women where held separately. I cannot verify this, despite searching for rosters of prisoners. Most of the existing documentation is only of deceased prisoners, or first hand accounts. Anyone with links or more info, please post or message me. Thanks!
