The van Dooren's are from ca. 1300 and they were Italian textile traders with the Italian name 'Spina' wich means a kind of a plant (doornenkroon ) The fruits of this plant produces
'wool'. They settled in Belgium from ca. 1300 and their name
turned into: Dorna, Deurne and Doerne and of course in
Vandooren and van Dooren ( even without an 'e' ).
That family lived in Vlaanderen (België), but the Province
Zeeland and Brabant are near to Vlaanderen, so.....
I'm searching for the familyroots but I didn't get further than
Maria Beatrix van Dooren of which woman I still can't find where she was born or died. However she lived in Maastricht
(Province Limburg in Holland ) her son was Josef van Dooren
and he had 8 children of which 1 girl went to America with
her husband Arie van Biljouw.
