Thanks Brenda,

Jane was indeed my Grandmother, she died in 1940, well before I was born, my mother was her youngest daughter.

From your message I will assume for now that Susan belongs to Charles and Susan. I have also found your Mother and Uncle Joseph's births in the index and attached them to Alexis and Charlotte. The Census form for 1911 omits both of these, and states that there are only 4 children of the marriage! Very strange. I agree that the name duplications are very frustrating, and not helped by two brothers marrying two sisters.

If your theory about Alexis and Margaret coming to the UK from Canada is correct, it blows some of the following out of the water: I have Margaret Dwyer as born 2nd Quarter 1848 in St Giles, in the 1851 census she is in London with her parents: Timothy b Cork, Ireland, Margaret b St Giles; and younger sister, and in 1861, still in London, with her parents, brother and 4 sisters. She and William Dugg i n! were married at St John's Church, Brixton on 5th March 1871 and appear on the 1871 census as Duggan at 16 St Anne's Court, Soho. William's death is registered 2nd Quarter 1876, and Margaret must have been quick off the mark to marry Alexis, at St Anne's Westminster on 28th May, the witnesses were Charles Kuhn and Jeanne Loos (who married each other in 1884). Until I found this thread, I had no knowledge of Titus or George.

I'll keep digging!

Steve (Your 2nd Cousin {Mary's husband is your 2nd once removed})
