JONES, Hon. Benjamin Howell: Sugar planter, and part owner of Plns. Demerara; 1895, appointed member of the Executive Council; 1900 and 1905, re-appointed; 1886, appointed Commissioner to the Royal Colonial Exhibition; 1884-91, chairman of the R.A. and C. Society; 1890, chairman of the Agricultural Committee; since 1884 has been a commissioner off the E.C. Water Supply, director of the Botanical Gardens under the old regime; delegate to three Agricultural Conferences ( Barbados and Jamaica--earthquake); commissioner, Lamaha Canal; was president, Institute of Mines and Forests; member Board of Agriculture, chairman, stock committee; chairman, Prisoners' Aid Society; practically the founder of primary scholarships now in vogue; Chairman of Commission on Animal Contagious Diseases, on whose report the present ordinance was passed; Chairman of East Demerara Water Supply Commission; Chairman of G. Bettencourt & Co., Ltd.; Director of Hand-in-Hand Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., and of Sprostons' Ltd.; 1908, again a member of the Court of Policy, defeating Messrs. E.G.WOOLFORD and W.E. LEWIS at by-election caused by the death of Mr. P. DARGAN.

MACKEY, Hon. Alexander PP: Managing Director, Booker Bros., McConnell & Co. Ltd., Demerara; b. 1854, of Irish parentage; ed. at Liverpool Collegiate School; at 16 years of age entered, in Liverpool, the firm then known as George & Co.; transferred to the firm's branch in British Guiana of which he is the local managing director and which is now known as Booker Bros., McConnell & Co., member of the Executive Council and Financial Representative for Georgetown; director, Demerara Railway Co.; for many years director of the Hand-in-Hand Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., member of the Council of the Planters' Association; has several times been President of the Chamber of Commerce.

RUSSELL, Alexander: Commercial Agent; b. and ed. Forres, Scotland; came to colony to the firm of Park & Cunningham; went overseering; joined Berbice Gazette Store; and then opened business on his own account as Commercial Agent; large West Indian connection; much interested in sports.

SEEDORFF, Henry: Engineer; b. and ed. Germany; consulting engineer for Booker Bros. & Co.'s estates on West Coast, Demerara, and for other estates; attorney for Demerara Foundry; Consul for Germany.

SHERLOCK, AP: Assistant Secretary, Sprostons, Ltd., b. in Demerara; ed. Rossall, England; 1900-06, clerk, La Penitence Store (Curtis Campbell & Co.); 1906, appointed to present position.

SHERLOCK, WV: Barrister-at-law; b. November 20, 1881, Demerara; ed. Dulwich College and Jesus' College, Oxford; 1905, B.A.; April 1907, called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn; 1908, admitted to practise in British Guiana.
