I have been researching the father of Carl Johansen (Beck in USA).
His parents are listed as John Nilsen and Kristiane Kristiansdatter in both. The same is true for his older brother, Martinus and younger sister, Maria. However, a younger brother, Ingvald, lists the same mother but John Kristiansen for the father, instead of Nilsen. https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/6127/40
I thought that might just be an error, but his confirmation record shows the same thing.https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/5070/114
I thought that maybe John Nilsen died and Carl's mother remarried. There is a Johannes Nilsen who died at the same church between the different fathers. He was born in 1804, and at 61, he was kind of old to be the father and would be 30+ years older than his wife, but it would be possible, I guess. https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/6127/205
However, on the baptism record for Ingval (see link above), it lists the parent's birth years as 1829 and 1837 or 1839, and then tags 1853 on the end. If that is their marriage date, then John Kristiansen would need to be the father of all the children.
The obituary for Carl's older brother lists the siblings above and 3 more (maybe could be half-siblings or step-siblings, though).https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/53215500/martinus-j_-bec...
I have looked and looked for John Nilsen, John Kristiansen, Kristiane Kristiansdatter, and 3 brothers Christian, Gust, and John, and can't find any church or census records for them.
Does anyone have another suggestion?
