Malo Bula,

The descendants of Enele Maafu still live on their property Onewai where Maafu is buried, in the village of Tubou, Lakeba, Lau.

It is true that when the Queen of Tonga, Mataaho (head of this clan) visits Tubou she stays at the family home in Onewai.

The Onewai Clan, without imposing themselves onto the Tongan Royal Family that they are related to, stay with their Fiulakepa relatives when in Tonga.

Every generation of the Onewai clan has a Siale (Jiale), Ataogo, Faupula (Vakaubula) Gatailupe or Maafu. These names are entitled to this clan.

There are many families of Tongan descent in Fiji who claim to be direct descendants of Enele Maafu, but Queen Mataahos Mother Heu (deceased) told Tongans on one of her many visits to Fiji in the sixties that she wanted to make it clear to them that these families are descended from Maafus soldiers and are not recognised by them in Tonga as they are well aware when they arrive there.

The Onewai clan like their Fiulakepa cousins in Tonga all resemble Maafu, it's true. The family resemblance is passed on from generation to generation and there are many photographs and living people to prove that point.
