I'm really happy for you, congratulations. I know how I felt when I got information that put me back in the 'hunt' and that was also because of name spellings. I had people drop an 'N' or change from Flutey to Fluerty etc. and of course, because there was no welfare as such in those days, people needed to marry to survive (both male and females) because life was so tough. Two or three marriages was the average, very seldom did anyone only marry once.

There are two other resources that will keep you at your PC for another few 100 hours:

http://christchurchcitylibraries.com/resources/newzealand/hi...

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~shipstonz/...

If you can find obituaries or locations via Census and Electoral Rolls and search the above websites, you may come across cemetery records and headstone photos, believe it or not it's an awesome source of information, I was really surprised i.e. it was quite common to have up to 6 or 7 relatives in the same plot. Or you may find an alien name in a plot which is a clue to another marriage.

If you do identify any grave sites in Christchurch or surrounds, send me an E-Mail and I will get headstone photographs for you.

Thank you for your response, you have ‘made my day’

Kind regards
Steve
