Darren, the Vic indexes are on CD and fiche, and you will find them at most libraries and family history societies around the country. You can also search online through the registry's website for a small fee.

I agree that when questions are asked of Ancestry's help desk it is blindingly obvious that they neither read nor understand the question and simply send their standard answers. A perfect example of this is that I was initially told that the missing entries were because of Australia's privacy laws (a standard answer). I know of no privacy laws which restrict information only for people with certain surnames!!
