On the 15th January Mr. Richard Cooper, consul for Portugal, died at his residence, South Yarra, at the age of 79 years. Mr. Cooper occupied the honourable position of consul for Portugal in this colony for over 22 years,~which appointment he received from the Queen of Portugal for valuable services rendered by him during the war between Don Pedro and Don Miguel in- 1832.

We regret to announce the death ol another old and respected colonist, Mr, Richard Cooper, consul for Portugal, which took place at his residence, Walsh-street, South Yarra, on Saturday, at 5 p.m., at the age of 79 years. Mr. Cooper occupied the honourable position of consul for Portugal in thiB colony for over 22 years, which appoint- ment he received from the Queen of Portugal for valuable services rendered by him during the war between Don Pedro and Don Miguel in 1832. He lived to see his golden wedding day, having been married 31 years.
