Dear Listers,
I'm researching the family of Captain William WOOD and Marie Hyacinthe Genevieve de GOUGES. Captain Wood was paymaster of the 15th Regiment of Foot and migrated with his wife and children to Tasmania per the brig, "Mary Anne", arriving on 25 October, 1829. He received a grant which he took up at Snake Banks, now Powranna, where he built the family home which he called "Woodleigh". Two children were born in Tasmania but both died in infancy.

The Wood children were:
John Nicholas Wood married Mary Donaldson HILL - 2 children;
Louis de Gouges Wood married (1) Annie Elizabeth FLEXMAN - 8 children;
Louis de Gouges Wood married (2) Ada Leonora SMITH - no children;
Charles Govette Wood married Julia Ann JONES - 11 children.
William de Gouges Wood and his brother, Mabille, went to New Zealand in 1858.

If anybody is researching this family I would be most grateful to make contact.

Margaret Wise.
