You may want to consider the local German language newspapers in your Pichler and Kunkel family research in Milwaukee.
For instance there are death notices in these papers for a Steve Kunkel, survived by Cecilia (Pichler). Based on the year he died, Steve may have been a subscriber at that time? There are about 85 Kunkel / Kunkle entries or references found in the local resource "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

There are also about 35 Pichler entries or references in the most current version of the index ranging from 1860s-1930s. These include notices for Paul, Anton, Carl, Joseph, Catherine, Katharine, Caroline Clara, Louise, Theo.; a reference to the Austrian town Fischamend; photos included with clippings of 2 Pichler boys who served in WWI; and links with the names Guenther & Wertschnig. (I'm not researching these families; the index and newspapers are not online.)

I'm always happy to confirm entries for specific names in the index, but do not offer volunteer research in the German papers.
