Moon, Irene E.
Irene E. Moon, age 80, of Shawano, formerly of Gardner, Kansas, died on Friday, October 15, 2004, in Wausau. Born on September 17, 1924, in the Town of Red Springs, Shawano Co., she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Pauline (Peters) McGee. She was a graduate of Haskell High School in Lawrence, Kansas, and lived in several different states. She had been employed at Globe Union, Jacobsen Corp., and was a clerk at stores while living in Texas, Kansas and Missouri. She was active in youth and elderly activities wherever she lived and was a member of the Stockbridge Tribal Elderly Steering Committee. She enjoyed being involved in her children’s and their families lives. She was also a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include, five children, Robert “Bobbie’’ (Bonnie) Little of Gresham; Dana “Sonny’’ Price of Kansas; Delbert “Joe’’ (Sue) Moon of Pamona, KS; Charlene “Polly’’ Moon of Little Suamico; Laura “DeeDee’’ (James) Slechta of Racine; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn Bowman of Bowler.
Irene was also preceded in death by a son, David; two brothers, Elwin McGee and Charles McGee; three sisters, Bertha Elm, Nellie Schwebke and Lorena Pleshek.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at the Church of the Wilderness, Bowler with Rev. Stephen Shriner officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services. The Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting in the arrangements.
