Daniel Paul Derocha, 43, Bonduel, Wis. and former Champion resident, passed away Tuesday at the Shawano Medical Facility in Shawano, Wis. Born June 28, 1960, the son of James and Virginia (Choat) Derocha, he was a graduate of Westwood High School, Class of 1978. After graduation he worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company then joined the United States Army and served as a Drill Sergeant stationed in Fort Leonardwood, Mo. After discharge he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections before moving to Wisconsin in 1994, to take a position with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Mr. Derocha was an active leader of Boy Scout Troop 24 in Bonduel, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, Bonduel; his parents, James and Virginia Derocha, Champion; two daughters, Miss Melisa Derocha, Nebraska; Miss Desiree’ Derocha, Port St. Lucy, Fla.; two sons, Daniel Derocha II, Port St. Lucy; and Leonard Hebert, Bonduel; one grandson, Jaden Derocha; and a twin brother, Dennis (Lisa) Derocha, Champion. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion with Monsignor Peter Oberto to officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday where a liturgical service will be recited at 7 p.m. Spring burial will be in the Champion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edwald Swanson, Michael Derocha, Paul Derocha, Mark Hamel, Larry Arsenault, Ron Woznik, Daniel Derocha II and Leonard Hebert. The Racine Funeral Chapel of Ishpeming is in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil, Wis., with Deacon Thomas Craig to officiate.
