Roger Louis Waukau Sr., 75, of Neopit, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, in Shawano following a short but courageous battle with lymphoma. Born on Sept. 14, 1936, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Susie (Wilber) Waukau. On July 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Diana Cox at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit. Roger enjoyed his job at Menominee Tribal Enterprise for the entire 45 years he was there, the last 25 of which he worked as a Forest Product Salesman. He loved the Menominee woods and enjoyed spending time in it, especially with his family. Roger also enjoyed attending his family's sporting events, fishing, hunting, camping, having cookouts and going to the casino. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diana; four children, Roger "Teeko" Waukau Jr. of Shawano, Jacqueline (Dan) Pubanz of Shawano, Reynold (Amy Gansen) Waukau of Legend Lake, Ron (Beth) Waukau of Keshena; a special niece, Nanny Corn of Neopit; nine grandchildren, Jessie (Kyle), Josh (Paige), Amber, Adrienne, Rochelle, Chelsea, Brianna, R.J., Brayden; and three great-grandchildren, Adrian, Nikkolas and Jordynn. Roger is further survived by two sisters, Yvonne Knowles, Jolly Waukau; two brothers, Mervin Waukau, Tony Waukau; four sisters-in-law, Sharon Quinney, Jan Cox, Deb Cox, Karen Waukau; three brothers-in-law, Walt (Roberta) Cox, Doug (Jean) Cox, Bill Cox; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Hilary, Orman, Marvin, Wayne, Lloyd; and two sisters, Juanita Irving and Monica Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. Robert Rank officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center after 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service Friday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at the center Thursday at 7 p.m.
