Norman "J.R." Quaintance Jr.

Norman “J.R.” Quaintance Jr., 53, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, after a long battle with frontal lobe dementia at Angel’s Touch Assisted Living in De Pere.
Norman Leath Quaintance was born March 31, 1958, in Kaukauna to Norman and Val Jean (Tyler) Quaintance. He was raised in the Clintonville and Bear Creek area. J.R. was united in marriage on March 21, 1981, to Rebecca K. Young at St. Dennis Catholic Church, Shiocton. He was employed for Jack Walters out of Seymour, constructing pole buildings for some years. Then J.R. worked in maintenance at the canning factory in Pulaski, Holtz’s Lumber Yard and for nursing homes in Gillett and Oconto Falls. His hobbies included building and painting model cars, camping, snowmobiling, deer hunting, fishing and sketching. J.R. was an avid Packers fan and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Becky, and four children: Amanda (Benigno) Ochoa Sr. of Aransas Pass, Texas, Bridget Quaintance of Shawano, Michael Quaintance of Shawano, and Brandon (Sarah) Quaintance of Shawano. There are two grandchildren, Benigno Jr. and Analia Ochoa. He is also survived by his mother, Val Quaintance, of Bonduel, and six brothers and four sisters: Wesley “Butch” (Carolynn) of Clintonville, Gordon of Clintonville, Susan (Darryell) Figlinski of Navarino, Robin (Joe) Dawiedczyk of Appleton, Dennis of Clintonville, Randy (Carren) of Clintonville, Cathy of De Pere, Chris of Clintonville, Terry of Oneida, and Tina (Jeremy) Durkey of Clintonville. J.R. is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Norman is preceded in death by his father, Norman “Slim” Sr.; an infant sister, Candy; and a sister, Tammy Berry.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. The Rev. Roberta Thomson will officiate, and burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent via
