Carl also known as Charles, Buff also spelled Puff, married about 1852 Maria Theresa LePold, possibly Liepold or Leopold, born in Saxony 22 Jan 1826. They lived in New York City where their children Charles, Jr b Dec 1853, and Bertha Marie Caroline b Apr 1855, were born. By 1857 they had come to Racine county, WI where their son Frank J. b1857, and daughter Emma A. b May 1859, were born.
Carl was a cobbler in Burlington. He died in 1859, and Mary was living with the children in Burlington on the 1860 census. She remarried to John Gauger, a widowed farmer with grown children, who had a large farm in Walworth county.

Carrie married Frank Garland, a farmer in Kenosha county, in 1874. They had son William b1875, and three daughters.

In 1875 Frank Buff/Puff, carriagemaker, married Louisa Arnold, daughter of Charles and Sybilla Arnold, who had a properous butcher shop in Burlington. They moved to Milwaukee and had 4 children, Frank Charles b1887(d 3 mos), Edna b1888, Charles b1891, and another baby son b1894 who died at 4 mos.
Frank J. Buff also died in 1894 and Louisa remarried to Adolf Lauersdorf, and they had a son Arnold who was later the proprietor of a garage and car dealership in Milwaukee.
The Arnold family and Frank Buff, Louisa, and some of their children are buried in the Arnold plot at Burlington Cemetery.

I am looking for anyone out there who has heard of any of these people. I would like to share information and work together to find out the origins of Carl and Maria in New York and Germany.
