Spring Valley Sun, November 1, 1928
Erick Stein was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arne Stein Nov. 21, 1881, in the town of Spring Lake. He was the second oldest of five children, all of whom are living except the youngest sister, Tina, who died Sept. 1916. Mrs. Stein, the mother, died in 1911 and the following year the father died.
After their father's death Erick and his younger brother Simon took over the management of the farm and this has continued until now.
Mr. Stein was a great home body and always took a keen interest in every thing pertaining to the farm and its management. He enjoyed a little outing once in a while and it was on one of these that the tragic accident, which ended his life occurred, as recorded in last week's issue of the Sun.
The funeral was held from the home and the Spring Lake Lutheran church last Friday afternoon, Oct. 26, Rev. Berven officiating. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Spring Lake cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his sudden and tragic death two sisters and a brother - Miss Ida Stein, of Chicago, Mrs. Olaf Nyeggen, of Spring Valley, and Simon at home. Also two nieces and a nephew, Marcella, Doris and Olaf Nyeggen, Jr., and three uncles, Peter Thompson, of Spring Lake, Paul Thompson, of Wheeler, and Ben Stein, who has made his home with the Stein brothers for two years.
