Anna Frisvold Stein
Anna Frisvold (Stein) was born to Ole and Olava Frisvold in Foldalen, Norway, Dec. 2, 1873. When she was five years old she came to America with her parents, brothers and sisters. The family settled on a farm in Spring Lake where she grew to womanhood.
On July 26, 1903 she was married to Simon Stein. The couple made their home with his parents on the farm on Spring Lake. To this union were born six children of whom five survive: one son, Claire, died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1925.
Mrs Stein continued to operate the farm with the help of her two sons until 1943 when she went to Los Angeles, CA. to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Veikko Leskinen. It was there she passed away on May 25, 1956, at the age of 82 years five months and 23 days.
She is survived by five children: Thelma (Mrs. Alden C. Anderson), Alice, (Mrs. J. Hartvig Anderson), both of Minneapolis, Simon and Thorburn of Spring Lake, and Evelyn, (Mrs. Veikko Leskinen), of Los Angeles, CA., eight grandchildren, and one sister, Miss Marie Frisvold, of Colorado Springs, CO., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held in the Spring Lake Lutheran Church June 1, 1956 with Rev. Carsten Smeby officiating. Rev. Norman Anderson, a brother of J. Hartvig Anderson, of Minneapolis spoke a few words on behalf of the bereaved.
