Henry Oscar Hogenson
Henry Oscar Hogenson was born March 16, 1891, to Jacob and Ragnhild Hogenson in the town of Spring Lake and died on October 3, 1958, at the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 18 days. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
He was baptized in the Spring Lake Lutheran Church by the Rev. Thorvildson and he was confirmed on May 20, 1906, by the Rev. Paul Moen.
On June 30, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Elizabeth Jacobson. Five children were born to them - two sons and three daughters four of whom survive: Roslyn (Mrs. J. Kemper Waddell) of Madison; John of Minneapolis; Kenneth of Eau Claire and Eleanor (Mrs. Guy Webert) of Eau Claire. Their third daughter Helen died in infancy.
Besides his wife and children he leaves 11 grandchildren; one brother John of Costa Mesa, CA.; two sisters, Christine (Mrs. Charles Jacobson) of Spring Lake, and Minnie (Mrs. Henry Nelson) of Minneapolis.
Mr. Hogenson was very active in community and political affairs. He served many years as clerk of the Cady Creek School board, as a member of the Spring Lake town board for 13 years and for 12 years was chairman of that board. During those same 12 years he also served on the Pierce County Board.
He was a member of the Spring Valley Masonic Lodge, worked actively in the formation of the Spring Lake Cemetery Association, and served as trustee of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church for several years.
Funeral services were held Oct. 6, 1958, at the Spring Lake Lutheran Church the Rev. W.C. Aanestad officiating. He was buried in the Spring Lake Cemetery.
