Mrs. Mary Anderson
Mrs. Mary [Marit] Anderson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lars Jacobson August 2, 1859 in Lille Elvedalen, Norway. In 1867 she came with her parents to America, where the family settled on the farm in Spring Lake now occupied by her nephew Arthur Jacobson and family.
In 1881 she married Throne Anderson at Menomonie, WI. They moved onto the groom's farm in the town of Spring Lake which has since been their home.
Six children were born to them, of whom three survive: Albert and Milton, at home and Louis in Spring Valley. Mr. Anderson died May 23, 1923.
Mrs. Anderson has been in failing health for some time, but has been up and about most of the time, helping with the housework as much as she was able. Tuesday, November 19, she was suddenly taken violently ill with a heart attack. Wednesday morning she died. [Nov. 20, 1940]
Besides her three sons she is survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also by two brothers, Jacob Jacobson of Spring Valley and Jerry of Spring Lake, and two sisters Mrs. John Ryan of Glenwood City, and Mrs. Peter Folden of Spring Lake. She also leaves many nephews and nieces.
Funeral was held from the home and Spring Lake Lutheran Church November 25, Rev. Berven officiating. She was buried in Spring Lake Cemetery.
