"How can I find out where in Bavaria the founding families of this church came from? WALZ family arrived 1847, GILG arrived 1854. I know these early villages/churches were usually started by families coming from the same village in Germany ..."

Their records are reported as being part of St. Agnes Church (Butler) records; St. Martin Church is referred to in their history.
There may be information on the community in the opening pages of the early registers; in the individual records; or a parish anniversary book (?) at the church office, Butler Public Library or Milwaukee Archdiocese Archives.

There are about 60 combined entries for the names Gilg and Walz / Waltz found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
