Emil J. Sackatook
Emil J. Sackatook, age 88 of Keshena, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Wolf River CBRF.
Born on Dec. 23, 1921 in Keshena, he was the son of the late Joseph Sackatook and Elizabeth (Delabrue) Pierce. In April 1945 he married Helen Grignon in Shawano. Helen preceded him in death on July 30, 1996. Emil was employed at the Menominee Tribal Sawmill as a sawyer for many years. He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit.
Emil is survived by: his children, Joe Sackatook of Keshena, Marla Wayka of Neopit, Leslie “Mona” (Jim) Ehlen of Green Bay, Frankie Sackatook of Washington D.C.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Loretta LaMotte of Neopit; and several nieces and nephews.
Emil was preceded in death by: his wife, Helen; a son, Emil, Jr.; two daughters, Jean and Laurie Sackatook; three grandchildren, Craig Wayka and Roland and Jodi Sackatook; step father, Chester Pierce; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Neopit Community Center after 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service on Saturday. A Parish Wake Service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
