Merlin W. Trantow, 76, 2201 N. 25th St., Wausau, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at the Wausau Hospital.
Merlin served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and had been employed as a driver/salesman for Central Beer Distributin until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Muzynoski) Trantow; four sons, Michael (Jane) Trantow, Two Rivers, Benjamin Trantow, Antigo, and Tom Trantow and William (Mary Ann) Trantow, all of Wausau; four daughters, Barb (Glen) Block, Ringle, Mary Romanowski, Particia (Paul) Hatlestad and Tammy Trantow, all of Wausau; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Elroy (Sylvia) Trantow, Wausau; and three sisters, Anita (Henry) Winters, Stevens Point, Irene (Pete) Mortenson, Aniwa and LaVina Sleeter, Wausau.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Peterson Funeral Home, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
