Michael Gaerthoeffner, a well-known resident of the county, passed away on the homestead farm of his son Joseph near here last Friday, after a lingering illness with diabetes. The deceased was a native of Germany, where he was born July 18, 1848; he came to this country with his parents, who settled in this section. Mr. Gaerthoeffner was married about 45 years ago to Mary Schwab, who preceded him in death 3 1/2 years ago. He was a carpenter by trade but was a farmer for a number of years past. He is survived by seven children, viz: Edward, George and Joseph of St. Nazianz and Theodore of Antigo, Mrs. Martin Lutz, Mrs. Jos. Lutz and Mrs. Frank Resch of Sheboygan; also one brother, Joseph of Sheboygan, 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The funeral took place on Monday forenoon, from St. Gregory's church, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Deibele officiated.
