Magdalena ECKART was the sister of George ECKART, who married Barbara LEGRO in 1876 in Manitowoc County. Barbara was the the sister of my great-grandmother Bibiana LEGRO, George and Barbara were godparents for my paternal grandmother, Helen (baptized Emma) KLOIDA, born 20 Oct 1896. Although they were aunt and uncle, my grandmother said she always called them Grandma and Grandpa ECKART. I have a potato bowl and tablecloth that Grandma and Grandpa ECKART gave to my grandmother when she was married in 1913.

George & Barbara were parents of the first white child born in Antigo, Wisconsin.

Obituary (Antigo Daily Journal, 8 Aug 1939): George Eckart Sr., “Antigo’s oldest pioneer,” (born about 1850), died 4 Aug 1939 & was buried at Bohemian National Cemetery, Ackley. Pallbearers were 6 grandsons.
