Surnames: Erhart Scoggin Haw Calvert Elam Thompson
I am looking for any information on Martha Scoggin Elam Erhart b 1820 NC who arrived in Lafayette, Wisconsin about 1855 with her children: Sarah Erhart b 1840 ILL, Eliza Erhart b 1844 ILL/MO, John Erhart b 1847 MO, James Erhart b 1850 MO, William Erhart b 1854 MO, and Lemuel Elam b 1839 ILL to be near her siblings James Scoggins, John Scoggins, and Sarah Scoggin Thompson.

It is not known if her husband John Ehrhart came with her and died shortly after their arrival or if she came alone with children.

I believed she married John Haw on 25 Oct 1857 in Grant Co, then Price Calvert on 18 May 1876 in Grant Co. Wisconsin. I found her list in the 1855 state census of Lafayette as Martha Erhart and in the 1860 census as Martha Haw in Lafayette. However, I can not find her listed in 1870 or 1880 but she filed a mother’s pension (as Martha Calvert)in 1888 from Wisconsin for her son Lemuel Elam. I did find a death record for a Martha Calvert 02 Jan 1890 in Lafayette, Wisconsin.

I found the following marriage records for the children
Sarah Hane Ehehart married Wm C Dixon on Dec 10, 1865..Lafayette
Eliza J Eahart married Andrew J Smith on 20 Oct 1864 Lafayette
James Erhart & Annie Terres 27 Feb 1901 Iowa County

Of these children, I found Andrew Smith with wife Eliza in 1870 and 1880 in Grant Co, Wisconsin. I found James Erhart in 1870 and 1900 in Lafayette Co, Wisconsin.

Are the death records in 1890 informational? Are there any newspapers from that time period that still exist? Is there an obit for a Martha Calvert that died Jan 2, 1890 in Lafayette?

Any help would be appreciated….thanks
