Martin Luther Lehnis I ... settled in Wood county TX 1855-1860 ... has descendants buried at the Splendora Cemetery in Montgomery co TX and at the Plum Grove Cemetery in neighboring Liberty county.

Martin immigrated from Bremen Germany and arrived at the port of New Orleans Dec 28 1854. He is shown on the passenger list as M. Lehnis, a 20-year-old shoemaker. The name of the ship was called the Brema and Martin would give that name to one of his daughters who was born in Wood co TX in 1878.

To the best of my knowledge, Martin is not related to the Lehnis families of America's northern states UNLESS that kinship can be proved prior to Martin's arrival in America in 1854.
