THOMAS A. BLASSINGHAM, Pioneer Resident of
Countydied at Patterson, Iowa, last Sunday.
Remains Brought to Barron Tuesday for Burial.
Again this week has death entered the ranks of
our old soldiers & called to his reward
Thomas Blassingham, who died at the home of
Mrs. O. F. Greenlee, of Patterson, Iowa,
Dec. 2, 1917.
Mrs. Greenlee is a sister of Mrs. Blassingham
& they had been visiting there for
some time past.
Early in spring they leased their home here
& started on a long trip to points in
Minnesota & Iowa, planning to extend their
visit to Indiana later, but death overtook
him before this plan was finished.
The body was brought here for burial,
arriving Tuesday morning.
The funeral was held on Wednesday at
two o'clock p.m. from the Methodist Church,
Rev. Harris conducting the services.
Thomas A. Blassingham was born in
Fayette Co., Ind. on March 9, 1841.
He came to Barron Co. in 1881.
He enlisted in Co. D, 73rd Inf. of Indiana
& gave three years of his life to the
service of his country.
He has always been a very active member
of Watson Post. His wife, one daughter,
Mrs. Dora Nickles of La Plata, N. M. &
six sons, C.D. Blassingham of Barron,
W.A. & Frank Blassingham of Superior,
J.C. Blassingham of Minneapolis,
Lawrence Blassingham of Melrose &
Dan J. Blassingham of St. Croix Falls
survive him.
All the sons were at the funeral.
