I have been searching for the father of Thomas Jefferson
Wiyiarch (the spelling used by him and his son Basil who is my spouse's gr. grand and other children until it was changed to Wyrick), and read this thread in its entirety.
There aren't many records for any Wiyiarch. I have found Thomas Jefferson's father and the info may shed some light on this discussion.
Guernsey County OH Wills 1812-1852 vol A-B accessed via shows Peter Wirick's Will and then says I, Peter Wyiearick...spouse listed is Sarah; children listed are: David, William, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Betsey, Fanny, Sarah and Polly Johnston (Johnson) dau of my wife, and my sons Michael and Peter. This will is probated
February 1825. This Peter deceased 9-14-1823. There is another Peter (a different spelling) who deceased December 1830.

I do believe he came from Europe via the Eastern seaboard and settled in Ohio, as did other branches of my husband's families. Did he stop in western PA or now WVA? I can only tell as I sort one Peter from another.

I find 2 different birth dates for Peter Wirick (and any other spelling) 1746 and 1756 in the eastern PA area. I continue to work backward and sideways using official records and historical publications.

I have found trees on the internet which seem to interchange birth and death dates and make us all crazy - bad enough the name spelling will vary even within generations.
