Paul Davis, of Warwick, Dies at 50
Paul Wingard Davis, church and civic leader and part owner of Budanick's Shoe Store in Warwick, died yesterday morning in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Davis, 50, of 36 Milford Road in Warwick, was intermittently ill for a long time.
He was a charter member of Warwick Lions Club, and was treasurer and chairman of the board of trustees and since 1934 treasurer of Calvary Baptist Church, Newport News. Mrs. Davis also was past deacon of Calvary, and member of the finance committee and C.F. Chandler Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Majette Davis, two step-children, Mrs. W.H. Nicholls, Jr. of Onancock, and Mrs. A.S. Butterworth Jr. of Warwick; five grandchildren; father, S.L. Davis of Randolph; five sisters, Mrs. Robert Stuart of Randolph, Mrs. Raymond Green of Richmond, Mrs. R.D. Bradberry of Moseley, Mrs. Asbury Blandenship of Danville, and Mrs. Earl Burcher of Buckingham; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Calvary Church by the Rev. Albert E. Simms, pastor. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Funeral services for Paul Wingard Davis, 50, of 36 Milford Road, Warwick who died Monday in University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Albert E. Simms, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be W.J. Welstead, Dr. Conway Smith, Paul R. Herring, Robert F. Hall, Jr., H.T. Gordy, Dr. J.C. Almond, W.E. Perkins, and Russell Collins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of C.F. Chandler Bible Class, the board of deacons and the finance committee of Calvary Church, and Warwick Lions Club.

Mrs. Margie Davis
Mrs. Margie M. Davis, 72, 36 Milford Road, Newport News, died Saturday in Riverside Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Mathews County, she resided in Newport News 62 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was clerk for 44 years and secretary for 27 years.
She was a member of the C.F. Chandler Bible Class, secretary of the Carrie Vaughan Federation of Business Womens Circle of the Peninsula (WMU), member of Grace Palmer Circle (WMS) and a charter member of Hilton Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Paul W. Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Norma C. Nicolls and Mrs. A.S. Butterworth Jr. of Newport News; two brothers, W. Leslie Majette and S. Raymond Majette of Newport News; two sisters, Mrs. Jesse J. Scott of Norfolk and Mrs. Irene M. Shore of Opelika, Ala.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Samuel W. Tatem. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home of Mrs. Butterworth, 40 Milford Road.
Pallbearers will be C.C. Shore, G.A. Scott, D.L. Majette, E.B. Foster, Dr. C.W. Smith, Jr., C.W. Smith III, O.R. Herring and R.F. Hall, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the C.F. Chandler Bible Class and the Grace Palmer and Nancy Yarbrough Circles of Calvary Baptist Church.
