Daniel Jackson (1760-1835) had a son, Uriel Jackson (born about 1795 or 1796) who played fife for Andrew Jackson's troops during the war of 1812. He was in the Battle of New Orleans, later settled in Columbus, Missouri in Johnson County. There he was well-known and beloved. He operated a horse-drawn mill and cut his millstones himself to ensure a quality grind. Information on him is available online regarding his delaying tactics trying to keep the Kansas Redlegs (Union) from burning Columbus. He married and had children and is buried in Johnson County, though there is no stone.
