A friendly note to tell you that there actually is no "line [going] all the way back to Samuel and eventually to Edmund the famous Moody who saved Henry the 8th." That is simply "wishful linking" run amok.

The supposed parents for Thomas Moody of Virginia,Samuel Moody and Mary Boldero, did have a son named Thomas born 1625, but he died in December 1645, never having married. There is well documented burial information for him. He didn't even live long enough to make it into his fathers 1657 will and certainly didn't move to Virginia.

Also, despite the many online family trees to the contrary, there is no evidence that Thomas Moody and Ann Lawrence had a son named Robert. They did have a well documented son, Samuel, who was mentioned in court records, deeds, tax lists and a will or two. There isn't even a whisper of a hint about a son named Robert.

If your DNA is in the aqua/light-blue group you probably are descended from Thomas Moody and Ann Lawrence through their son Samuel. If your DNA is in the lavender group, you are not connected to Thomas Moody and Ann Lawrence. You are probably descended from either John or Robert Moody, born about 1660, who were on records in Essex Co., Virginia, starting in 1692 for John and a few years later for Robert. Several of the lavender lines trace directly back to John of Essex.
