I am very interested in hearing from other researchers who are digging for clues to any of the Irish immigrants (and their families) who worked in the copper mines in Orange County in the second half of the 1800's. My ancestors Julia Finnegan married a Thomas Taffee there about 1860. Julia later married a Lawrence Pickett there in 1863. Not sure what happened to Thomas. Julia's sister, Kate, lived there also - marrying (first) Kiren Coughlan, then George Rowe. Where were these miners buried? Where did the families dispurse to when the mines went bust? Any and all thoughts appreciated.
