I am seeking contact with any researchers interested in the line of John A. THIGPEN (b. circa November 1847, Tipton Co., Tennessee, d. before 1920, Walker Co., Texas). This individual, his wife, and family are found living in Huntsville, Walker Co., Texas, during the 1900, 1910, and 1920 enumerations.
It is my belief that John is the penultimate child of the first marriage of Ben Ashley THIGPEN to Lucinda (???). The ages and state of birth match precisely. This recent discovery of Walker Co. information leaves only the 1870 and 1880 tabulations for which I am missing census data for John.
Combining all three Walker Co. enumerations gives the following snapshot of this family:
John and Emma A. (???) were married circa 1886; presumably in Texas. Emma is consistently reported as having been born in Louisiana to parents born in Georgia (father) and Louisiana (mother).
Children include: John B./R., Leon A., Eddie A., Ceicile, Jewell J., Johnie M., Verna L., Herbert, and Lorette O. - all born in Texas. In 1900 Emma is reported to be the mother of seven children of which six are living, while in 1910 she is indicated to have given birth to ten children of which eight are living. Since Ceicile is missing after the 1900 enumeration, she is thought to be one of those that died.
Any information relevant to the ancestry of Emma or the descendants of any members of this family will be greatly appreciated.
TIA - Herman
