I am helping a 14 year old girl research her family history. She is African American and we've been able to trace her family back to Tyler county--they go by the names Barkley, Barclay, Herring, and Gray. They lived there from 1850-1930. In 3 census records they seemed to be living and working for a white family named Robert Barclay. I can't seem to find any burial records. I've worked in Georgia and there the cemeteries were segregated. Is this the same in Tyler. If so, which cemeteries were traditionally for African Americans? Have those cemeteries been surveyed yet? Any suggestions at all for any African American Records or interesting sources for Tyler? Does anyone know where African American marriages were recorded prior to 1915? Any information would be greatly appreciated
