Hi Dianeleigh2,
I am seeking the same information. Have you found anything else that could help me? I couldn't find Sarah listed as a widow but I did come across this request for information that actually does have some information in it and I have found a second marriage of Joseph that confirms the information in the request. Here is the request:
(KIRK-PHILLIPS - Seeking info, especially marriage record, land deeds, probate, will, and obit for Joseph McGinnis KIRK, born 29 June 1822, (NC?), died 17 Sept. 1904, and buried in Georgia Cemetery between Paris and Direct, Lamar Co.,Tх. He may have been divorced ca 1872-1874 by Sarah; he married Emily Jane (SMITH?) (PHILLIPS?) ca 1874. J. M. C. KIRK, wife and six children were in the 1870 Tyler Co., TX, census (not Tyler, Smith Co., TX) He was commissioned a major in the TX Reserve Militia on 10 Oct. 1870; also served as private in the Texas State Police. Militia records show he was stationed at Woodville, Tyler Co., and resigned in 1872. He was on the 1890 tax list in Hempstead Co., AR, but has not been located in 1880 or 1900)
