[R]ain is badly needed and if it [does] not come soon somebody is going to get in bad shape.

We have seen farmers wear brighter smiles than the Chinamen are wearing now. Corn was bitten down [sic] and the wheat and oats are needing rain.

If it don't rain soon we can all go fishing, and I won't that be jolly for the candidates. [sic] They can turn their horses out to graze; put up their Sunday clothes and go to the river and catch frogs and minners [sic] for the dear people. It will be well for some of them to practice up a little as the most proficient catcher of bait will be the most popular.

The boys spoken of in our last communication escaped without further injury than a few scratches. They are not talking wolves now but are going into the more peaceful pursuit of tank building.

Jim McDaniel and family and his son-in-law, Will Page, left Sunday, April 3rd for Arizona. They are going through in wagons.

Jim McCarty has actually gone to stealing. Week before last he stole a young lady, Miss Corda Smith, of Richland Creek, and after a short ceremony at the residence of Newt McDaniel, which gave him a bona fide title to the property he had stolen, he and his bride started for a trip to Mason County. They returned last Friday and that night the boys gave them a serennade. They are house keeping in a part of the house occupied by George Tomlinson.
