Andrew Vandyke, son of John and Nancy, ran off to Conway County, Arkansas circa 1843-1844, where he had Eli Bentley as next friend represent him in a civil suit over the loss of his horse, bridle and saddle. James M. Johnson, the defendant in the suit sought a dismissal of the case as Andrew was out of state and a fugitive from Justice, wanted in the murder of his father, as alleged by Johnston. Peter Moore filed to divorce Amanda M. (Vandyke) Moore also I think it was in November 1843, alleging that she would not live with him, would not care for their child, and was not chaste. In this jury trial, the jury found in Peter's favor and the divorce was granted. I am not a Vandyke or Moore descendant, but am working on various early Rusk County murders.
