I too would be interested in any information that is available regarding the THIGPEN families of Lavaca Co. The 1880 Federal Census for the County lists two THIGPEN families.
The first is that of William(79) and Margaret(43) THIGPEN. Both are indicated as having been born in North Carolina with parents of the same area. It is possible, given his age, that this is the second marriage for William. There are ten children enumerated with them: Andrew J., Mary, Izabelle, Alice, Edward, Kate, William, Jonathan, Berry, and Seth.
The second family is that of Samuel(41) and Connie A(33) THIGPEN. Samuel is indicated to have been born in Louisiana with both parents born in North Carolina. While Connie is reported to have been born in Arkansas with parents born in New York (father) and Illinois (mother). There are six children enumerated with them: Mary L., Samuel E., Johnathan C., William H., James O., and James R.
It is possible that these two families are related. There is also reason to believe that Samuel may have had a brother named John who continued further south and settled in Goliad Co.Any assistance with these families will be greatly appreciated.
