Thank you for your note regarding Ira william McBee. since writing the original post back in 2007, I have been able to learn much about the McBee family.

Ira Mcbee was orginally married to Elizabeth A. Hiner who was born in Walton, Georgia in 1832. She was the daughter of John Hiner and Nancy Beasley. John Hiner moved his family to Chickasaw co., Mississippi in the 1840's.

Elizabeth Hiner McBee died in 1863, and Ira raised their numerous children, plus those of his deceased sister-in-law, Sarah Hiner Warren and her husband, Patrick Warren.

Ira moved the entire family including his mother, Alice Bennet McBee, to Lamar county, TX in about 1869.

Ira Mcbee must have been a remarkable man who showed uncommon generosity and affection in raising not only his own large family but several children of his sister-in-law. I have attached a photo of Ira McBee
