I'm afraid we do not have pictures of the old-timers but wish we had. No, DNA has not been done but that is a solid possibility in the future. By the way, a lot of Jackson and Rutledge families will be in the McAllen, Texas area on the 17th of November for a reunion to place a stone on the grave of Abraham Rutledge (b. 1815). The actual service will be at the Methodist(?)church cemetery, near the river. The church was built on the land donated by Nathaniel Jackson. Apparently, the Daughters of the Confederacy will also be placing a placard on the stone in memory of his military service. As I understand it, Hollis Rutledge is leading the event.
