Mary Sistrunk can be found by the name of Meranda Lou Sistrunk. I believe this is their marriage record.
groom's name: J. B. Martin
bride's name: L. M. Sistrum
marriage date: 17 Oct 1870
marriage place: , Robertson, Texas
It is possible it might have her parents listed, being that she was young enough to have had to have permission to marry.
By the way, no one so far who have done trees, has found the marriage record. You would be the first with that record, which you can send for.

You will read a lot of things on the internet, and on family trees, but it all needs to be documented.
I found some trees on this family, but be careful. I would advise you do your own tree with documentation.

This is Meranda Lou Martin,s death cert.

John and Meranda were both born after the Trail Of Tears, by the way. There is only one way to do genealogy, the right way, by documentation. You will notice that on the death cert, the father is listed as J.B. Martin. The death cert is filled out by a family member or freind, and is only as good as the person who knew the info, or thought they did, which means, it could be incorrect. I know it can be confusing.

This is some of the trees I found.

There are several more, but they are just copied from others with the same info, some without documentation.
This is a hard family to search, and might lead to Indian ancestry, but on the records I found, they are listed as white on census, death and birth records. You would need to go back much further to find it, if it is there.

One of the best places to search is on, and

A very good research for Native American is You will find info on more than 500 tribes. Good luck.
