Obituary -- We have to announce the death of Maj. Moses Park, who died on Sunday last [Nov. 9th] at his residence in this city, and was buried yesterday, his funeral taking place from the methodist (sic) church of which he had been a most worthy and exemplary member for some years past. The death of Mr. Park was not unexpected, as he had long been afflicted with the consumption, which, for the past five or six years, had been gradually undertaking his constitution and bringing him daily nearer to the last home of all. He had been a citizen of Texas for the last eighteen years [ca. 1838], and was well known to nearly all the older settlers of the country, by all of whom he was held in the highest estimation for his many virtues. In fact, we believe we may safely say that he lived and died without an enemy, for his strict integrity of purpose in all the transactions of his life, was above suspicion and his amiable and ancillary manners made friends of all who knew him. His widow is the daughter of our fellow citizen, David Ayres. She is now left with four children, mainly dependent on her own exertions, but she has the consideration to know that her loss is felt by many sincere friends, as a heavy loss to the community at large.
