Carlos Fortunato Ancheta Ret. Maj. died at home Sept. 16, 2003. Survivors, wife, Rosalinda Huliganga Ancheta and children, Caesar, Brookfield, WI., Susan J. A. Freelin, Betty J. A. Brody, Reston, VA and five grandchildren. Born March 5, 1909 in Aliaga, Nueve Ecija province on the island of Luzon, Philippines. Adoptive parents were Paula and Lucio Ancheta. Graduated from Cabaanatuan City, taught elementary school in Nueve Ecija until he came to the United States in 1933. Drafted into the US Army in 1943. After Officer Candidate School, he was sent immediately on a secret mission to Brisbane Australia where he underwent training with 3000 other Filipino-Americans in preparation for MacArthur's invasion of the Philippines.
