I have been searching for my grandfather for 25 years. I was born in Harlingen, Cameron County, TX. My father was born in Star, Mills County, TX. My grandmother's (Viola Jane HEAD)obituary says grandfater's name was Alfred Benjamin CHAPPELL. They were married 22 Aug 1915 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. My father did not remember his dad who left the family while he was a baby. He had heard, however, that he might have been from Arkansas. Dad had been told that after they were married in TX Alfred and Viola had moved back to Arkansas and he had two an older brother and sister that had died their as babies and they returned to Texas.

I have searched the census records in all of Arkansas and on the 1900 Census for Woodruff county did find an Alfred CHAPPELL (b. Feb 1897) born to R. B. CHAPPELL (b. Feb 1856, North Carolina) and Margaret (b. Oct 1865, Arkansas). Alfred was the youngest of seven children (Henry b.1882, Eula P. b.1884, D. Edgar b.1887, Minnie M. b.1890, Marvin b.1892, Agnes b.1895, and Alfred b.1897).

Why this family is so interesting is that my father has an older sister (Eula) and his name was Henry! Coincidence?

Does anyone have any information on this family?

Also Dad thought he was related to Irk BLACK who I found in the Mills County, TX census.
